Flare Dynamics
Adapted from Richard Cobb's article:
A Dynamic Analysis of a Landing Flare
Whack:
Body Upright or rocked back, legs in front.
Arms low and in front of face, already partially extended
Arms push forward, pushing pilot back, rotating system forward around system CG.
Glider gets in front of pilot with arms now fully extended
Flare:
Body leaning forward, legs trailing slightly
Arms high on downtubes near ears, fully cocked
Arms push up and forward in line with pilot CG
Force rotates glider around glider CG
Pilots legs swing forward with air breaking of wing
